On 12-14 September 2019, the 28th Congress of the Polish Society of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine will take place in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Łódź. The PTHiT Congresses are held biannually and are the most important scientific and educational events of our Society. The previous, 27th Congress took place in Warsaw and was one of the largest both in terms of the number of participants, submitted papers and foreign speakers. We hope that the Congress in Łódź will be equally interesting and fruitful. It will also be an electoral meeting at which we will choose the new governing bodies of our Society.
The 28th PTHiT Congress will be dedicated to scientific and practical aspects of the diagnostics and treatment of blood diseases. Among more than thirty sessions, we also envisage topics related to the aetiology and pathogenesis of diseases of the haematopoietic system. Lectures, as well as oral and poster presentations, will address the problems that we encounter both in our scientific work and in everyday clinical practice. We envisage sessions traditionally organised at previous congresses, concerning neoplastic diseases of the haematopoietic system, non-neoplastic blood diseases, haemostasis disorders and transfusion medicine. Similarly to the previous years, the EHA - PTHiT session will be held, but we are also planning a new session “Haematology in Central and Eastern Europe" with the participation of haematologists from the Czech Republic, Croatia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, and a session summarizing Polish achievements in research on the clinical use of cladribine. We also hope that the representatives of pharmaceutical companies whose activities are related to haematology will participate actively in the Congress.
We believe that the selection of topics and discussions with the participation of a broad range of specialists from Poland and foreign guests will make our congress interesting for you and will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, deepen the knowledge necessary in everyday clinical practice, consolidate existing relations and friendships, and also form new ones.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Łódź,
Prof. Tadeusz Robak, MD, Ph.D.
Chairman of the Scientific Committee
of the 28th Congress of the Polish Society of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine
